Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy or EMDR is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. It has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma.

How does EMDR reprocessing work?

While the client focuses on the upsetting event, the therapist will begin sets of side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or taps. The sets of eye movements, sounds, or taps are repeated until the event becomes less disturbing.

How does it work through Telehealth?

You will be sent a link via email to join session through the website RemotEMDR.com (Click here for a video tour of the platform) which you can access through your phone, computer or tablet. This site allows us to have HIPPA compliant video and utilize bilateral stimulation through visual and audio means. I will also coach you through admnistering self taps. We will work together to find which bilateral stimulus serves you best. EMDR does not require homework/practice work outside of session.

Is EMDR as effective via Telehealth?

YES. A new study confirms what I have already seen first hand, EMDR therapy can be done effectively online with remotEMDR, the program I utilize for virtual EMDR sessions. Read the full article here
